Dirkes John Rolston, born in Forsyth, Montana in 1932, passed away on July 29, 2026 at the age of 93. Dirk was the youngest of three sons born to the late Thomas Herbert Rolston and Regina (Dirkes) Rolston. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Rolston and William Rolston.
After growing up in Forsyth, Dirk went to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where played he football and baseball. After graduating, he briefly played minor league baseball before serving in the Army for two years. In the Army, he started his journey to become a Physical Therapist. His physical therapy career spanned 30 years in hospitals in Iowa, Montana, and Washington, in addition to independent practices in Aberdeen, Ocean Shores, and West Port, Washington.
He met his wife, Jimmie Lee of 60 years while working as a bar tender in Estes Park, Colorado. Dirk’s passions included both playing & watching sports, gardening, researching family genealogy of his Irish and German ancestors, and traveling with his children & grandchildren. Dirk’s kindness and generosity touched the lives of friends and family throughout the United States, and he will be remembered through stories of his ball-playing days and childhood adventures.
Dirk is survived by his wife, Jimmie Lee, their two children Jill of Austin, Texas and Michael of Arvada, Colorado, and 3 grandchildren Kian, Teah and Lena.
A memorial service will be held in Austin, Texas on September 26th, 2026.
