What to Expect With Natural Organic Reduction Services
Natural organic reduction is a revolutionary form of disposition that actually mimics natural decomposition that would occur over time if someone had a natural burial. Instead of being buried in the ground, the body is placed in a stainless steel vessel that’s been filled with wood chips, alfalfa, straw and special microbes with the ability to transform remains into soil. These microbes naturally occur on plant material and in our bodies.
Over the course of 5-7 weeks, the body inside the vessel is broken down by the microbes. Once the tissue has decomposed only the bones remain. They can be crushed up to be given to the family as cremains or added back to the soil for further decomposition.
Once the soil is removed from the vessel, it’s screened for non-organic materials such as hip implants or pacemakers. The soil is then allowed to dry and cure for an additional 3-5 weeks. Once the process is complete, the family can choose to use the soil to nourish trees and plants on their own property or donate the soil to organizations that use it in their conservation efforts.
Each body creates about one cubic yard of nutrient-rich soil.
