Katy, TX – Gale Leake passed away on January 10, 2023, at the age of 72.
Born and raised in Amarillo, he was the son of W.E. Leake and Patricia (Pat) Smith. He graduated from Caprock High School, attended Amarillo College and transferred to University of Texas in Austin where he graduated in 1973.
He achieved his lifelong dream of living in France in 1980 and worked there for 20 years for Peat Marwick, Price Waterhouse, KPMG and PWC. He came back to Texas in 2000 with PWC, then spent many years working in Africa as Expatriate Tax Manager for various companies based in Houston and London. He retired with Baker Hughes in 2018.
He will be remembered for his quirky ways, his colorful African shirts and mostly for his love of travel, which he was able to enjoy even more during his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Evelyne Leake, his son Damien and wife Ilsse, his daughter Oriane and husband Jake Perkins, his mother, Pat Smith, his sister Lavita and husband Robert Golightly, his sister Julie Peterson, his aunts Jean Howze and Jan Ethridge, his uncle Roy Don Leake and wife Joyce, as well as 9 nephews and nieces in the United States and in France, and his best friend Lee and wife Debbie Seale-Kubena.
A celebration of his life with close friends and family took place at his home in Katy on January 14, 2023.
