Vickie (Orrick) Harrison

October 28, 1943 -
December 15, 2025
Birthplace: Jefferson City, MO
Resided In: Austin, Texas

Vickie Lynn (Orrick) Harrison was a woman of faith who dedicated her heart to the Lord and to her family.

Born in Jefferson City, MO and raised in Dallas, Vickie grew up in the Lakewood area graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School where she was a cheerleader, Homecoming and Round-up Queen and the lead in the senior play. She was an excellent student, particularly of the Bible, earning the Linz Bible Award for her knowledge of the Old Testament.

After graduation, Vickie attended Austin College, then married her first husband, John de Noyelles with whom she had two daughters, Amy and Lauren.

If her dedication to the Lord was Vickie’s mission in life, helping others was her purpose. She had always dreamed of being a mother and gladly put her girls’ needs ahead of hers to ensure their health, happiness, comfort and success. And she was also generous with blessings: every conversation ended with “God bless you” (and she meant every one of them). Every month, no matter how limited her means, she tithed a portion of her income to help those who needed a little bit of a boost to make ends meet. She was hard-wired for sacrifice, always with joy and with no expectation for reciprocation.

In 1981, Vickie married Bert Harrison—the love of her life. Together, they stood by Amy and Lauren through their college years, supporting and encouraging their academic and career endeavors. Vickie and Bert bought land and built a cabin in the mountains of New Mexico which ultimately became the extended family’s respite from hot Texas summers and the craziness of daily life. But, it didn’t take a special occasion or vacation to bring the family together; no excuse was too small to meet up for Tex-Mex and margaritas (Vickie insisted on extra, EXTRA salt). Nurturing the family’s love and care for one another mattered most. Vickie cared for Bert with unwavering love until his passing in 2004.

Though family was her top priority, Vickie’s compassionate nature and deep faith shaped her servant’s heart, making her a standout in client service career. She genuinely cared for her clients and colleagues, treating everyone with kindness and respect. Her ability to effortlessly form meaningful connections left a legacy—one that continues to inspire those who had the privilege to work with “Ms. Vickie.”

One thing was for sure: you never had to guess about where you stood with Vickie. She was both sugar AND spice. She always spoke her mind, a quality shaped by her many years in client service. It wasn’t unusual for her to “provide valuable feedback” when she thought it appropriate. The family joke was that her “constructive input” would inadvertently result in a comped meal or some other freebie. On one occasion, she submitted candid feedback to Stouffer’s about a recipe change to one of their frozen dinners. Her comments went all the way to the top, and she ended up with a year’s supply of mac’ n’ cheese.

Amy unexpectedly passed away in late November 2025, devastating the entire family, but literally breaking Vickie’s heart. Vickie’s physical condition prevented her from attending Amy’s December 15 memorial service, but as one who hated to be left behind, Vickie one upped us all. Rather than miss the funeral, Vickie passed away early that morning, no doubt to celebrate a joyful, heavenly reunion with her beloved Lizzie.

Vickie is survived by daughter and son-in-law Lauren and Kyle Hood and the grandsons whom she adored with her whole heart, Wyatt and Owen; dearly-loved sister and brother-in-law Eve and Dr. David Hoag; cherished nephew Jim and wife Laura along with their family James, Brittany and Joshua; dear stepson Emmett Harrison and daughter Lisa Harrison Henrichsen; and scores of friends and family who knew her as a beacon of love, compassion, and grace.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy de Noyelles; husband Bert Harrison; and parents Ed and Ruth Orrick.

Details for her memorial service and inurnment are pending.
