It is with great sadness that the family of Robert “Bob” Walter Jamison, Jr. share his passing on July 22, 2024, in Austin, Texas. Robert was born September 25, 1958, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Robert Walter Jamison and Delores Jean Gattis Jamison.
Robert graduated from County Line High School in Branch Arkansas, and later attended the University of Arkansas before joining the United States Army in 1980. After studying Russian at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, Robert was stationed at the US Military Base in Augsburg, Germany, serving his country as an Intelligence Analyst and Russian linguist. Robert was honorably discharged in 1987 with the rank of Sergeant and was recognized with numerous service accolades.
Robert distinguished himself for many years in the field of software engineering. He was especially proud of his contributions to NASA and the International Space Station. Being an active member of the Ham Radio community was Robert’s favorite hobby, and he was an avid fan of great music. Robert always had a clever and insightful view of the world, and made himself at home in Austin.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his two sisters, Susan Lynn Post of Houston, Texas, and Leigh Ann Jackson, of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, as well as many nieces and nephews.
