Mallissia was born on December 20, 1949, and lived a life defined by service, leadership, and heart. She dedicated over two decades to Bastrop County, Texas, where she served as Director of Purchasing and was widely respected for her professionalism, intelligence, and steady integrity.
Outside of work, Mallissia was deeply committed to giving back. She served as President of the Austin, Texas, Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association for a time and poured countless hours into community efforts and fundraising. She also supported the Ben Hur Shriners in Austin, including through volunteer work with their clown community and events, bringing warmth, laughter, and purpose wherever she served.
Above all else, Mallissia loved her family. She is survived by her son, Justin Kosik; her daughter-in-law, Nicki Kosik; and her beloved grandson, Nick Kosik, along with extended family who will carry her memory forward.
In accordance with her wishes, Mallissia will be cremated. Her ashes will be scattered privately by family over her father’s grave in Rockdale, Texas, and across Shagawa Lake in Ely, Minnesota, near Miner’s Lake, places of meaning, peace, and remembrance.
A small, private gathering will be held with close family. No formal public services are planned at this time.
