Eric Wayne Neiderer, 50, passed away at his home in Austin, Texas, on June 1, 2025, with his beloved wife, Bonnie, by his side. Eric fought a valiant battle with glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. He cared for his family and friends in true Eric fashion until the very end.
Eric was born on September 13, 1974, in Manassas, Virginia, to Wayne and Christine Neiderer, and grew up there alongside his brother, Keith. Like his father, Eric had an interest in electronic chip design. He earned his degree in Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1997 and started his career at Lockheed Martin. He went on to earn his master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Temple University in 2005.
Eric and Bonnie met in December of 1998 at a Christmas party. They have been inseparable ever since, marrying in 2001 in Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania. They lived together in the Philadelphia area, where their three children, Paul, Margaret, and Russell, were born. Eric continued his career in the tech industry in Philly, with a highlight when he was awarded a patent related to Advanced Cell Libraries. In 2012, Eric’s new employment with Oracle took the family to Austin, Texas, where he later transitioned to a very successful and fulfilling career with Apple.
Eric dedicated his life to caring for his family and his community. He invested countless hours chaperoning Scouts, coaching the Westlake Mountain Bike team, and supporting all of the passions and interests of his children. He loved being outdoors with his family and friends, spending time camping, biking, and hunting throughout the country.
Eric and Bonnie had a marriage that was a true partnership, having been teammates and companions in both work and play. From house projects to pickleball, they were always together and supporting one another. Eric’s children were the light of his life, and the memories of his love, guidance, and laughter will be with them always.
Eric is survived by his wife, Bonnie Saunders Neiderer, and children, Paul Lewis Neiderer (19), Margaret Cecilia Neiderer (17), and Russell Wayne Neiderer (15), as well as his parents, Wayne Thomas Neiderer and Christine Meckley Neiderer of Manassas, VA; brother Keith Neiderer, his wife, Tamara, and children, Avery and Gavin, of Midlothian, VA; sister-in-law Pamela Van Meter and children, Kate, Libby, and TJ of Vienna, VA; mother-in-law Carol Saunders of Lakeway, TX; and adored pets, Lola and Paisley. The family would like to thank the many precious friends who have helped during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm at Star Hill Ranch, 15000 Hamilton Pool Road, Austin, TX, on Friday, June 13, followed by a reception from 2:00 to 4:00 pm (business casual). All are welcome.
