Elena Karyn (Crow) Bailey

July 6th, 1965 – February 19th, 2024

Elena Karyn (Crow) Bailey, a beacon of love and light, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19th, 2024, Austin, Texas, after a courageous battle with cervical cancer.

Elena was born on July 6th, 1965, in Abilene, Texas, the youngest of four children born to Lloyd Brittain Crow and Billie Jean (Mabry) Crow. She spent her formative years in Abilene before embracing Austin, where she flourished, and raised her beloved son, Bryan E. Bailey, with unwavering love and dedication.

In her vibrant life, Elena embarked on various fulfilling endeavors. She managed the renowned Sweetish Hill Bakery in downtown Austin, showcased her impeccable taste as a buyer for Breed & Co., and brought joy to countless hearts through her garden, gift, and home store, “happiness,” on South First St. in Austin. Her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for nurturing beauty in the world knew no bounds.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Elena’s heart overflowed with compassion. She dedicated herself to empowering impoverished women worldwide, touching lives in India, Nepal, and beyond, through her work with a non-profit organization. Later, she selflessly cared for her mother following a debilitating stroke until her mother’s peaceful passing.

Elena’s greatest legacy lies in the love and connections she cultivated with family and friends. She radiated warmth, kindness, and boundless generosity, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Elena’s love knew no bounds – from her cherished pets to the vibrant flora she nurtured, to her passion for music, food, and creating beauty in every aspect of life.

Elena is survived by her devoted partner of over 18 years, Ryan DiDomizio, her adored son Bryan E. Bailey, her precious granddaughter Sloane Bailey, her siblings Breta Easterwood, Lawrence Crow, and Anneva Crow, and their respective families. She will be dearly missed by her extended family, friends, and the countless lives she touched with her radiant spirit.

In honor of Elena’s memory, let us celebrate her life by embracing the things she held dear: support a charity close to your heart, shower your pets with love, immerse yourself in the healing power of music, share a heartfelt embrace with someone dear to you, and remember to be more kind.

A celebration of Elena’s life will be held on March 16th at Kingsbury Commons at Pease Park in Austin, from 12-2pm, where her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she may be physically absent, Elena’s love and legacy will live on eternally.
