Therese Landry DeMouy

February 3, 1960 -
December 30, 2025
Birthplace: New Orleans, Louisiana
Resided In: Austin, Texas

Therese Marie Landry DeMouy passed away peacefully with her beloved family around her December 30, 2025 after a valiant six-month battle with cancer. Therese was the devoted wife of Jeffrey Arthur DeMouy, and the mother of three beloved and highly accomplished children: Laura Anne, Robert Edward, and Thomas Henry DeMouy.

She was born February 3, 1960 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her father Gordon and mother Madeleine Delaune Landry. Therese loved her siblings, brothers Gary and Greg and sister Anne, as well as her doting nieces and nephews Julie, Justin, Ashley, Gregory, and Raquel. Growing up in Thibodaux, Louisiana, Therese was an outstanding student both at E.D. White High School and Nichols State University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in science and was an Academic Hall of Fame honoree. She became a dedicated member of Phi Mu Sorority at Nichols and devoted herself to a lifetime of service to Phi Mu, focusing on providing scholarships to talented students researching cancer. Therese attended medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans where she earned her Medical Degree and met her future husband. She completed her specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology at LSU New Orleans and began her practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma where her three children were born. After the birth of their last child, Thomas, Therese retired from the practice of medicine to devote herself to her children. In 2003, the DeMouy family moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. An active participant in the Episcopal Parent’s Guild, she was an enthusiastic fixture and volunteer at countless games, concerts, and track meets as well as serving as school nurse at many activities. A talented musician, playing piano and melodic percussion since her youth, she joined the Baton Rouge Concert Band and had the pleasure of performing in concerts with her highly accomplished children.

As the kids completed school, Therese worked part-time as a graduate administrative coordinator in the Neurotology Department at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center. With Jeff’s retirement, they moved to Austin, Texas where they immersed themselves in the music scene with many of their old friends. Therese became a fixture in regional concert bands, particularly enjoying playing percussion for Austin’s Cinematic Symphony. A talented singer as well, she performed and recorded with her band The Austin No. Always dedicated to service to her community, Therese enjoyed using her talents as a cook to work with Our Shared Kitchen and make meals for those in need.

Later in life, Therese was profoundly grateful to develop a deep and satisfying relationship with her biologic mother Judy Jackson and Judy’s husband, Bill Jackson of Bedford, Virginia. Judy preceded her in death.

Wherever Therese went, she lived by her mother Leenie’s credo, “Bloom where you are planted.” A talented musician, a compassionate physician, a loving wife and mother, and a generous friend to so many, Therese is survived by her husband and children as well as her siblings Gary, Anne, and Greg. Her calm and loving presence will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family would recommend making a contribution to the American Cancer Society. Celebrations of her life will be held in Austin and in New Orleans where she will be laid to rest with her parents.
