Theresa, “TC”, Ann Scaffidi, née Milani, was born on June 22nd, 1960, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Catherine and Philip Milani. She passed away on Wednesday, November 12th, 2025, in her home in Leander, TX with her husband, both of her sons and her eldest sister present. She passed away surrounded by her family due to complications of metastatic breast cancer.
Theresa spent her childhood in Idaho, Virginia, and Long Island. A lifelong steward of the environment, she joined the Hauppauge Environmental Program in high school.
Her passion for music started at an early age. She started playing clarinet, and was invited to learn the oboe and later learned the English horn. In 1976, she represented Hauppauge High School in the all-county orchestra concert organized by the NY State School Music Association, where she met her future husband Salvatore Gregory Scaffidi Jr. She continued pursuing her passion for music at Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY, and was privileged to perform the oboe at the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, NY. She and Salvatore married in 1982 and had two sons: Salvatore Gregory III in 1983 and Timothy Michael in 1985.
Her musical passion continued throughout her life, participating in community bands wherever she lived, most recently as a member of the Band of the Hills out of Cedar Park for over 16 years.
As a “Deadhead”, she attended dozens of Grateful Dead concerts over the years and named the first family dog “Casey Jones”. An ardent animal lover, she cared for four dogs, four cats, a rabbit, and numerous birds throughout her life. She has been a supporter of the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) for over 5 years.
She volunteered at the Cayuga Heights Elementary School library, which started her career in libraries. She continued her career at Cornell Music Library, Ithaca College Library, the Leander branch of the Austin Community College Library and as manager of the Leander Public Library, where she helped develop the Meals on Wheels program.
She is survived by her husband, two children, two grandchildren (Norah & Holly), four siblings (Kathleen, Patricia, Jeanette, and Robert), and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 21st, 2026 between the hours of 3PM and 8PM, at Obsidian Brewery in Leander, TX.
Among her last wishes were for those able to donate blood to help those in need, as she was a recipient of other people’s donations during her battle with cancer.
As an alternative, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the World Wildlife Fund, the American Cancer Society, the Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN), or the Band of the Hills (bandofthehills.org).
In the words of the Grateful Dead, ‘What a long, strange trip it’s been’—but not nearly long enough.
