Del Valle – Steven Lynn Becker, age 63, was called Home by our Heavenly Father on June 14, 2021. Born August 5, 1957, to Evelin Clara Ida (Meier) Becker and Edwin George Becker in Austin, Texas. He is the youngest of three children. He was baptized at Redeemer Lutheran Church on August 25, 1957 and confirmed at Redeemer on May 3, 1970.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Jordan, and daughter Madison and their mother Lori Manigold as well as brother, Larry Becker and his wife, Kris, and sister, Glenda Becker Overfelt and husband James Ray Overfelt, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Steve began his life-long passion for music in his preteen years. He practiced guitar for hours everyday in his room. He started his professional career at age 14 playing in local venues such as Dessau Hall, Silver Dollar, Lumberyard, and Dance Across Texas. He was lead singer, guitarist, and fiddler in three bands over his career: Country Edition, Countryside, and Sundance. He owned his own music studio, Purelight Productions, where he produced 75 albums. He produced the demo tapes for singer, Rick Trevino, and toured in 320 shows with him. Steve also operated one of the heavy cranes used to build the Pennybacker Bridge in Austin in the early 1980’s. He was involved in the technical business of music programs of several area churches including Redeemer Lutheran Church from 2010-2015. At the time of his death, he was working for Austin Entertainment Ventures.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 4PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1500 W. Anderson Lane, Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), 3010 S. Lamar Blvd., Ste 200, Austin, Texas 78704, www.myHaam.org.
