Srirut Breitling, 73 of Austin, Texas, passed away of natural causes on July 10, 2022.
Srirut was born in Bangkok, Thailand. There she graduated high school, worked, and took classes. She met her husband, Richard Breitling, when he was stationed there for the U.S. Air Force. When the Air Force sent him to Germany, they married and started their family. They eventually made their way to Austin in 1986 where she lived ever since.
Srirut (other nicknames, Sarah or Al) would always greet you with a smile and probably a plate of food. She was funny. She enjoyed Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals, Titanic, Engelbert Humperdinck, barbecue, and the Longhorn Band. She was a HUGE football fan. When a University of Texas or Dallas Cowboys game started on TV, all socializing was pretty much over.
She was always up for a celebration. She would start getting excited about birthdays or holidays a month out. She loved giving presents. So much so that sometimes she would rewrap them later and give them to you again. If you were lucky enough to be on her “mailing lists” through the years, you never knew what you’d be getting. Every letter was a surprise (usually tea).
She loved her family and her house — and in extension anyone who loved her family or came to her house. If you did a favor for her, no matter how small, you’d be leaving with gifts of some sort. She was very proud of her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters, often letting them know “You are the best in this world.”
She is preceded in death by her husband Richard. She is survived by daughter Christene, son-in-law Jimmy, grandchildren Olivia and Violet, and brother-in-law Ronald. Her daughter will be hosting a Celebration of Life for family and friends to gather and share stories at a later date to be determined. Srirut’s ashes will be interred with her husband’s ashes, Richard, at San Antonio National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to: Central Texas Food Bank
