Robert B. Woodin, 93, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully with his family at his side after a period of declining health. Born in Detroit, Michigan on January 29th, 1928, he was the son of the late Harold and Josie Woodin. He was a World War II veteran, and retired as a commander from the Naval reserve in 1969.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Bettye Sue Ray, sister Carol Huston and nephew Bobby Huston.

Bob graduated from SMU in Dallas in 1950 with a master’s degree in professional accounting. He worked at Atlantic Refining Oil Company, and then became an account executive with Merrill Lynch. After moving to Denton, Texas, he became the Trust Officer at the 1st State Bank, and was an adjunct professor in the business department at Texas Women’s University.

Bob was married to his second wife, Josephine “Jo” Woodin, for 52 years. He has five children: Bruce (Jane) Woodin, Bill Woodin, Donald (Kim) Woodin, Suzanne (Paul) Keleher and Bobette (Thomas) Turco. He has nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Art Huston, and niece Diane Heise.

Bob was a long-time member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas, and a member of John Childs’ Sunday school class. After moving to Austin to be close to family, he became a member of Hope Presbyterian Church.

He loved to play golf and bridge, and to travel.

Plans for a memorial service with military honors will be planned in early summer, once Covid restrictions have lifted more completely.
