DECEMBER 12, 1955 – JUNE 5, 2024
PEACE, OVER & OUT
Beloved by family and friends
A Life Well-Lived.
Our beloved, Ricardo (Ric) Alberto Vela, at the age of 68, left us too soon on June 5, 2024, in Austin, Texas to go to his eternal heavenly home. Ric was born in Washington, DC on December 12, 1955.
If you met Ric, you were welcomed with a genuine smile, a kind word or compliment, and a desire to chat just a little bit longer. Ric will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, caring and loving heart. Ric never met a stranger and always made a new friend everywhere he went.
Ric was most proud of his membership with the IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) LOCAL 484 for 24 years. He worked in craft services and as a stagehand in several movies and films. The highlight of his career was being part of the film set team for the Friday Nights Lights Serial Drama where he had a bit part in the series. He also worked in his expertise in the film, Miss Congeniality. Ric retired 10 years ago and focused on maintaining his health, and spending time with his family and close friends. He loved enjoying the music and arts scene in Austin, collecting vintage guitars, and supporting his family in their new business endeavors and dreams. Ric was everyone’s biggest cheerleader.
Ric is preceded by his parents, Raymon D. Vela and Maria Louisa Vela. He is survived by his brother, Daniel R. Vela, sister Anna M. Hay and husband David J. Hay. Niece Selina Vela, and her family Ligni, Isaiah, Leylanni, and Joshua, niece Shelby Lyn Morris and husband William Dalton Morris, and Nephew David Luke Hay and fiancé Katherine N. Morales.
” When you see that sunset or that panoramic view of God’s finest expressed in nature, and the beauty just takes your breath away, remember it is just a glimpse of the real thing that awaits you in heaven. ” – Greg Laurie
Let us all remember the love and kindness that Ric left in our hearts and the difference he made to our world.
