Patrick Joseph King, aged 35, passed away January 29th, 2026. A few days before his, and his twin sister Melissa’s, 36th birthday. He was born on February 2nd, 1990 to Sam and Laura King. He has three other siblings. Two older brothers Benjamin and Jason Burroughs, and one older sister Christy Venditti. He also had his beloved dog Rufio who unfortunately had to be put to rest days later.
Patrick was born in Huntsville, Alabama. His dad is a career Marine so the family moved all the time. Patrick played in the snows of Northern Virginia all the way to the desert sands of 29 Palms, California. In grade school he played flag football and soccer. His flag football team was the 49ers and he had a lifelong affection for that professional football team.
Shortly before the year 2000 his family moved to Round Rock, Texas. Patrick attended grade school, middle school, and high school in Round Rock. Patrick was an extremely intelligent, passionate kid who always loved learning new things. As he got older his passions drifted away from school and formal education. Friends, family, and exploring his adventurous side became his priority.
When Patrick decided to put school on the back burner he was given an ultimatum by his Marine father. School or work. Patricks’ interests being creative, innovative and passionate, he decided to take the work route. Over the next 20 plus years he was always working. Sandwich shop, short order cook for multiple places, commercial driver, employee to his older brother Jason’ BioDiesel company, security for a comedy club, bartender, bouncer, landscaper, handyman, mechanic, and lastly, custom blinds installer for 3 Day Blinds. Patrick absolutely thrived in this last job. We were so very proud of him. If Patrick put his mind and time towards any task or job, he always excelled. A man of many trades and all those around him respected him for it.
Being a mechanic for his own and his friend’s vehicles was probably his biggest hobby. He was a gifted mechanic, all self taught. He would take ragged motorcycles, trucks, cars, etc and get them running again. Patrick always found a way to get the parts he needed for the cheapest price. Most people would spend more on Starbucks than he would spend on parts. Some might say the vehicles weren’t legal but he got them running and helped friends save money and time.
His two biggest passions were music and making his friends laugh. He played an amazing black and green stand up bass guitar. He would spend countless nights playing until the sun came up. Songs that he had personally written. Patrick had a long time dream to start a Rockabilly band with his friends. That never materialized. He was blessed however, not once but twice to realize lifetime opportunities. A European Rockabilly band came and played at his house for an impromptu concert. He also attended a historic Rockabilly festival in Spain with his two older brothers fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Patrick was hands down a ride or die friend. He was always there when you needed him. No judgments. Just love. If Patrick was your friend, you were very lucky. Not only because of his loyalty and genuine heart but because he was the life of the party. Never a dull moment with him around. Laughs never stop because of his quirky and intuitive personality. He had no shame or embarrassment and was always 100% true to who he is and we all loved that about him. He was a bright light wherever he went and the world is a duller place now that he is gone.
Patrick will always be loved and never forgotten. We hope wherever Rufio and his souls are, they have reunited and are able to live the free spirited life as he did here on earth.
