Michael Charles Delaney, 72, of Austin, Texas, passed away on March 4, 2026.
Born August 31, 1953, in Campbell County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late John Delaney and Dorothy Grear Delaney. He was preceded in his death by his sister, Donna Cecil, who passed away in February.
Raised in northern Kentucky, just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio, Michael remained proud of his Kentucky heritage throughout his life. He attended the University of Cincinnati, where he studied chemical engineering. He worked as a chemical engineer for much of his career before retiring in 2015 to pursue his interest in music. He lived in the Houston area from the late 1980s until 2020, when he moved to Austin, Texas near his son, Cory.
Michael had a lifelong interest in music, particularly classic rock, and was an avid reader. In retirement he devoted more time to listening to and playing music.
He is survived by his sons, Jason Delaney of Houston, Texas, and Cory Delaney and wife Jennifer Jackson of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jamie and Jeremiah Delaney, and by his brother, John Delaney (Doris) of Kentucky.
A private family service will be held.
