Linda (Mitchell) O’Quinn, 79, of Leander, Texas, passed away in January 2026. She was born in April 1946 in Hobbs, New Mexico, to W.T. and Eva (Williams) Mitchell. Linda graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas, in 1964 and later attended North Texas University. She married Floyd O’Quinn in 1965, and the couple moved to Arizona before settling in San Diego, California, in 1971, where they made their home for 31 years. The marriage later ended in divorce.
In November 1984, Linda and Floyd adopted their daughter, Heilee, who was the joy of Linda’s life.
Linda worked as an executive assistant for Kelco until her retirement. After retiring, she returned to school to earn her certification in library sciences and worked part-time for the Area 1 Agency on Aging in Eureka, California. In 2010, she moved to the Austin area, where she remained until her passing.
Linda had a lifelong passion for reading and a deep love for animals of all kinds. She was often found with her nose in a book, surrounded by her beloved pets.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughter, Heilee (O’Quinn) Berry, and son-in-law, Todd, along with extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.T. and Eva Mitchell; her brother, William “Bill”; and her sister, Dorothy “Dot” Montgomery.
In lieu of a memorial service and flowers, donations may be made to your favorite local pet charity or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
