Jefferson Daniel Brown, 42, originally from Camp Hill, PA, died Tuesday, July 13th in Austin, Texas, from complications due to epilepsy. Jeff was an active songwriter and musician (No Show Ponies, The Savage Poor, Shinyribs) in the Austin music scene, where he resided for 15 years. In 2018, Jeff was recognized as one of the 10 best bass players in Austin. Jeff also wrote and performed a weekly radio show, Rock N Roll Janitor, on KBSR, Black Sparrow Radio, which helped listeners experience deeper meanings in songs by comparing tunes from various genres through common themes. Jeff was a 1997 graduate of Camp Hill High School (PA) and a 2003 graduate of Penn State University Harrisburg. He is survived by his brother and lifelong bandmate, Ben Brown, and his father and mother, Donald and Linda Brown, from Camp Hill, PA. A memorial service is being planned for October 9th, at 1:00 pm at the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg, subject to changes due to COVID-19. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeff’s memory to Ryleigh Shover, whom Jeff helped raise as a daughter.
