Hortensia Salas Canales, Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt & Friend, 85 years of age, of Smithville TX (formerly of San Antonio, TX) entered into eternal rest on February 21, 2021.

She is preceded in Death by her Husband (Alfred R Canales), her Son (Alfred S Canales, Jr.), her Daughter-In-Law (Kimberly Callicoate Canales, wife of Son, Casey), Son-In-Law (Frank Morales Jr), Salas Brothers (Albert, Manuel, Eddie, Pete), Mireles Half-Brothers (Adolpho, Arturo, Alfredo, Alejandro) and two Sisters (Amelia De La Fuente & Alice Salas). She was born to parents, Pedro S. Salas & Rosalia Gamez on January 30, 1936.

She is survived by her children (Carolyn Canales, Yolanda Burkett, Rachel Morales, Casey Canales, Gerard Canales), (7) Grandchildren (Jacenda Burkett, Celena Luciano (husband, Efrain), Marshall Canales (wife, Alexandra), Katie Canales Van Winkle (husband, Jordan), Brandy Morales, Kristina Morales, Krystal Canales (Mother, Lisa), (7) Great-Grandchildren (Ashlynn Baranowski, Nikolaus Baranowski, Jerico Luciano, Kimberly Canales, Hosea Canales, Ezekiel (Zeke) Canales, Theodore (Teddy) Van Winkle), her Sister (Eva Cervantes (husband, Eduardo)), Nieces and Nephews.

Hortensia’s Trust & Faith in the Lord, always carried her through this Journey. She was constantly seeking God’s “Truth” and always had a desire to Serve. Throughout her life, she made a positive & loving impact on many, including those she briefly crossed paths with.

She always gave her unceasing support & offered so many encouraging words. At times, if you felt the world was against you, she was always with you, and for you.

Her constant Prayer, was that her “Family” always remain united. Her parting words, “Take care of one another.”
