Gary Lane Anderson

Gary Lane Anderson, 72, of Round Rock, TX, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, due to complications resulting from Parkinson’s Disease.

Gary was a loving  father, grandfather, and son of William Howard “Dick” and Edna Blanche (Brim)  Anderson, now deceased. Gary grew up in Bellmead and Axtell, TX, graduating  from Axtell High School and earning degrees in commercial music and electronics. 

Gary was a musician, who played lead guitar and vocals with bands for more than  50 years, mostly in the Waco and Austin area. He also taught electric guitar and  authored several songs, one of which he wrote as a teenager, “One Million  People,” that plays regularly on underground garage band radio stations  worldwide. Gary also worked as a computer engineer for many years at Dell (Employee #148) in Austin and played in their corporate band, the DellTones.

Gary is survived by his sister, Janie Allen, and her husband, Darrell; his older brother, Harold Anderson, and his wife, Sandra; his younger brother, Bruce  Anderson, and his wife, Lucy; his former wives, Marie Anderson and Vicki  Anderson; his daughter by Marie, Harmoni, and her husband, Michael Van Slyke; his son by Marie, Tristan, and his wife, Alison; his stepdaughter by Marie, Anna  Roland, and her husband, Patrick Parmar; his stepson by Vicki, Dylan Tynan; his grandchildren by Tristan and Alison, Kyla and Logan Anderson; his step- grandchildren by Anna, Rosemary and Roger Villesca, and Aaron, Alyx, and  Morganfae Sabey; his former sons-in-law, Roger Villesca and Scott Sabey, and his lifelong friend, David Hall, and his wife, Gail. He also leaves behind many beloved extended family members, musicians, and friends.

Gary’s family extends their appreciation to the staff of Bouquet Homes Assisted  Living & Memory Care – The Primrose and Gentiva Hospice Care for the kind attention and excellent care they gave Gary during his last days and for the support they have given us. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to  research for Parkinson’s Disease, a local music nonprofit or school, or HAAM  (Health Insurance for Austin Area Musicians)

Gary’s memorial  service will be on June 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church, 3315 El Salido Pkwy, Cedar Park, TX.
