Daniel Williams Orr was born on December 17, 1997 and left this world September 26, 2021, at the age of 23. He lived his entire life in Austin. He was funny and smart and loved by his friends and family.
He attended First English Lutheran Child Development Center where they called him the Gerber baby, Pease Elementary, O. Henry Junior High, MacCallum High School, and Garza High School.
Daniel is survived by his parents, David and Renee, and his sister, Erin. He is also survived and loved unconditionally by his aunt Ann Rutledge, aunt Lisa Priddy and her husband Curtis, and aunt Lynn Nees and her husband Gordon, his uncle Danny Orr, his great-uncle Tommy Barnes, his grandfather, James Williams, and his step-grandfather, Ray Sierleja. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Joy Sierleja – who loved him fiercely and was his biggest cheerleader; and his grandparents, Dan and Virginia Orr – who taught their whole family the meaning of unconditional love. He is also preceded in death by his aunt Diana Bonner. Daniel is also survived by his “Dutch sister,” Sophie van Hasselt and her parents Mirjam and Folkert. They are truly family and always will be.
There will be a memorial and gathering for Daniel’s friends and family to celebrate his life, share memories and mourn his passing at Covenant Presbyterian on October 15th from 2 to 4 pm. Social distancing and other COVID protocols will be followed and all unvaccinated persons will need to wear a mask and gather in the outdoor space.
